Ugh, I Woke Up Sick

I kind of get overly cocky at the fact that I honestly never get sick, it’s a verrrrry rare occurrence. However, the karma god’s have shown me otherwise and today when I woke up from a sweet slumber (much too early, I may add – work starts at 7am today), I had a swollen throat, a runny nose and it felt like I had zero sleep when I had like, 6.5ish hours. Even as I write this I feel like I could fall asleep at any given moment, so bare with me and any spelling/grammatical errors that may come flying at you.

When I’m sick, the first thing I do is give up all dairy. Granted, I had my lunch made for today already which includes some feta cheese, but I opted for soy milk at Starbucks this morning instead of my usual cream (I know, I know… whatever). Why? When you have a runny nose or a phlemΒ in your throat, dairy has a tendency to make it a lot thicker and ultimately your body has a harder time getting rid of it. I know, sounds pretty right? So anyways – that’s first on my agenda.

Second? I eat a LOT of really healthy foods and drink water (err, right after my Starbs… promise). I work the first half of my day today so I packed a pretty awesome breakfast shake, lunch and some snackies.

  1. A smoothie with frozen cherries, a banana, Vega Vanilla Protein powder, and organic unsweetened almond milk.
  2. 2 oranges
  3. Yellow bell pepper
  4. Salad for lunch – greens, ground chicken, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cucumber and EVOO/Balsamic Vinegar as a dressing.

I honestly hate being sick because it sets me back big time, and I have no time for that LOL…

Does anyone have any recommendations on what else to do to get rid of this!? I wanted to go swimming this afternoon and do laps for a half hour but I feel like my body wants to rest instead :(.
